Some Wave Terminology
CRESTS occur at the wave's maximum height.
(Called the wave's AMPLITUDE).
TROUGHS occur at the wave's minimum height.
RAYS are arrows pointing in the direction of motion.
WAVE CRESTS are drawn perpendicular to the rays.
(Also called WAVEFRONTS).
WAVELENGTH (

): the distance between two crests.
PERIOD: the number of cycles which pass a fixed point in a given time (usally cycles/second).
