Question: Do you have a site license for Matlab?
Author: Joseph Tam
Date: Mar 6, 2014
Eligibility and Access
As of Feb/2014, UBC IT will provide Matlab free of charge to any
current University faculty, postdoctoral fellow, research associate or
staff member. The license allows Matlab to be installed on any University
owned workstation, or personal computer owned by a salaried member of UBC
(workplace, home, or laptop).
Undergraduate Students are not eligible, unless it is to be installed on
a computer owned by the University, or if they are being paid for research.
Graduate students who do research with a faculty and TA are eligible. Eligible
members who leave the employ of the University must agree to remove
Matlab from their personal computer when their appointment ends.
Access is authorized via a network license server specified by
a license file that will be included with the installation media.
Access to the license server must originate from the campus wired network,
or using the
UBC myVPN
connection when using it from home or the campus wireless network.
In particular, Matlab will not work where network access is not available.
Under exceptional condition, UBC IT can issue a standalone license --
if you fall under this category, please contact the UBC IT Site License
Manager using the information supplied in the following pages.
